Jadis & Simon's Intimate Winter Wedding

An Intimate Wedding At the Post Hotel, Lake Louise

[still frame from the Wedding Film, by Parfait Productions]

Today we are sharing the heartfelt, intimate and perfectly curated winter wedding of Jadis and Simon. We had the pleasure of filming their wedding, at the Post Hotel, Lake Louise, Canada.

From the moment we received the first email from Jadis, we knew their wedding would be a unique celebration of love, their heritage, and families. With Jadis and Simon planning from 7090 Km’s away, we set up a Skype date to chat about the wedding, their love story, and why they had picked the Post Hotel in Lake Louise for their intimate Canadian Wedding.

Fast forward several months and the day had come! We had recently arrived home from our long awaited honeymoon and were ready to rock the party (not figuratively)  [ This is our way of saying “ film like you’ve never filmed before and make it epic!! ” ] The drive down to Lake Louise was magical, with the weather going from winter, to spring…then back to winter with a sprinkle of summer here and there. We’re in Alberta after all, right?

The morning of the wedding, the sky was blue and the sun was shinning! I filmed with the ladies and Justin with the men (our usual roles). With friends and family in the room, spanning the globe, the two respective rooms were full of energy and excitement.

Jadis had all her wedding day essentials laid out. Each piece perfectly selected for the occasion. One thing that caught my attention was her journal. She had documented her journey from engagement through to the wedding planning. You’ll see a glimpse of this in the film!

When Jadis and her bridesmaids were putting together the final aspects of her wedding day look, the energy in the room was electric. The elegant hair adornment was just one of the pieces that spoke to me. She was very gracious to allow us to film on the balcony for the last moments before the ceremony, where the light was just perfect!

From the personal vows, hand selected readings from family members and the warm inviting decor, the ceremony was just breath taking. Post ceremony, we headed to the picturesque Lake Louise, to capture the wedding party and couple during their portrait session. Giant snow flakes were falling, and clouds were hanging dramatically low over the lake; it was magical! You’ll see the four seasons in the film, as it naturally occurred! What followed was a night full of heart felt speeches (some belly laughing!) and then dancing in the Outpost Pub.

We wanted to thank J & S again for sharing their wedding day celebration with us. It was such a pleasure to meet you both, and capture the moments as the day unfolded. Congrats again!

Enjoy the film, made with love!

xoxo

A Parfait Experience

It's been a long time since we've blogged anything that wasn't a wedding. Today we wanted to take a moment to share with you what the Parfait Productions experience is all about and what our team stands for. What to expect on the wedding day and how we roll! We understand the wedding cinematography world can be a funny place, with the uncle bob stereotypes all the way to the hoodie wearing filmies.

A little about us:

- Unobstructive: aka ninja style.

As a married couple, we take wedding pretty seriously. We don't want to take away from your day and over haul the wedding. For us it's about capturing authentic moments, without taking away from the wedding. We work around your photographer to capture your day, rather than compete with this other critical vendor involve in capturing your wedding. For us, great wedding photography is amazing and we understand you have made a big investment in this area as well. We're going the distance for you all day. Like Lanny & Erika from TwoMann would say "All in balls out". If that means filming with smaller cameras, filming in water, climbing mountains or filming with a monopods to accommodate to the space, count us in!

- Authentic

In a Parfait Productions films, we capturing authentic raw moments. We brought this point above, but we would like to elaborate a little more. Justin and myself would never have you do a once in a lifetime moment, such as a first look more than once. You might think we're crazy to say this. But believe us and trust us, many many films out there are filled with moments the videographers have manufactured and contrived. Don't you think that's a little crazy? I would say... ahem fake? For us its about getting the shot, when it happen naturally, in the moment. Basically we're like ninjas, but we don't show up to your wedding in spandex.

-Timely

We often tell our clients, we're always a step ahead of then. We can anticipate your next move. We know where to be, at the right times. We know when its time to depart from one location and start sound check without skipping a beat. After filming more weddings in 2014, than any other wedding cinematography team in Alberta. Let's just say, we got this. We know where the action is, and more importantly, we're present in the moment, just as you are on your wedding day. We're taking it all in, but from behind the lens.

-Prepared

As mentioned above, we're prepared and well equipment to deal with a multitude of scenarios, such as low light and small spaces. We've invested in the best, for you. You deserve the best equipment available for live event shooters and the newest technologies.

-Community

Our community of wedding professional is like family to us. Wether its your planner, DJ, venue or musicians. Introductions on the day of are great, but wouldn't it be great if we knew them before hand? We always make an effort to introduce ourselves to all vendors we will be working with, prior to the wedding day. Either we've worked together or coffee date is in order to get to know each other. It's important to us. Knowing the vendors we will be working closely before the wedding day is priceless. This only comes with experience  ladies and gents. Building relationships with wedding vendors we work with or would like to work with, is important. Knowing their processes and personalities is crucial to working as a well oiled machine all day. All your vendors should be working as a unit on your wedding day! Yay! Go team!

-Man + Woman

Having a male and female perspective on things is priceless, and is our case, this means shots from your wedding from different perspectives and even heights. You just can't get that from a bunch of dude cinematographers. Ladies, I get it, I've gone through this. During the shooting and editing process, it about the shots were the bride is beaning and in the moment! We want to display your true personality and confidence!! I film with the ladies and Justin films with the guys in the morning, naturally. This just makes the whole process more comfortable! Also, when I see a pair of shoes, well I just know you've taken the time to select these beauties and I'll be sure to capture them too ;)

-Passion

Enough said. We love what we do and working together to create wedding films.

Thanks for stopping by! We look forward to sharing some awesome winter weddings with you all in the coming weeks!

xoxo

Kayla + Marcus // Banff Elopement Film //

Marcus & Kayla's Secret Mountain Elopement!

The moment Kayla contacted us and told us she was planning her elopement in the mountains, we were so excited. Not only are elopements one of our favourite things to film, as they're super romantic & personal, but Kayla and Marcus had decided to forge all traditions and not share their upcoming elopement plans with anyone, but their best friends. It was a secret!! They drove all the way from northern B.C to celebrate and elope in Banff with their two best friends, for a whole weekend! Isn't that amazing?!

The moment we officially met Kayla in Banff, she was over the moon excited about the big day. Her best friend came in from Calgary to be by her side!

Kayla had planned such great details, such as great girly robes for her and her BFF to wear, earrings that matched her wedding colours perfectly and her best friends dress. From the flowers she found on ETSY. Everything was so perfect and unique. Even her ring, had two different looks you could alternate from! Her dress was absolutely stunning! We love when couple's eloping bring in their personal style and add details to the day. Having the dress of your dreams should still be important, no matter how big or small the wedding! We think so at least!

Marcus matched perfectly with the colour scheme of turquoise, with Mrs. Bow Tie pocket square and matching bow tie. We love his moustache! He pulled off the whole look.

The girls giggled, told stories and sipped on mimosas all morning, as Marcus hung out with his best friend, had breakfast and went for a quick hair cut.

We all met up and headed over to Two Jack Lake for their outdoor ceremony. The sun was shinning and moment had come!

We hope you enjoy this Elopement Film! It was such a pleasure to spend the day with this awesome couple and their best friends! Now that they've told their friends and family, we want to say a big public congrats to Kayla and Marcus! Yay!

Big thanks to Sarah Vaughan Photography for capturing the day so perfectly, click here for some photos of the day!

Brae-Lea + Shae's Highlight Reel

Edgemont Community Centre

We first met Brae-Lea, way back in the late spring of 2013. Almost a year later, we met up again for coffee to meet Shea and learn all about their wedding. We talked about their music preferences and vision for the day. Looks like Ix and Brae both have a crush on John Mayer!

The couple had made the addition of a Same Day Edit to their wedding film package. We were so excited to create a film just for their reception, with help of our Same Day Editor! This Highlight Reel is a whole new film with the reception included.

The day had finally come! We were sooo excited! From the getting ready location for the ladies, to filming at the firehall where Shae works, to the beautiful bride's dress (all the way from Kleinfelds's in NYC)- everything had been carefully considered and planned to perfection. Everyone was having a great time and relaxed, which we love!

Brae-Lea's fabulous mom designed and planned their wedding, with the help of friends and family for the set up. She totally transformed the Edgemont Community Centre into a stunning, glamorous and one of a kind wedding ceremony and reception location. We were blow away by all the little details and how it was truly a representation of the couple and their style! Some of our personal favourite reception details would be the signature drink board, the brides Mrs mug for her coffee at the head table, the floor decal with their names and the caramel popcorn wedding favours. We could really go on and on, we loved it all!

We won't hold you up any longer. We're pleased to present to you, Brae-Lea + Shae's Wedding Highlight Reel. Thank you so much for having us at your wedding, you made us feel welcome and cared for. Brae-Lea's dad even packed us a wonderful lunch to have on the go the afternoon of the wedding! We are so grateful to have met these two love birds! We wish you a lifetime of happiness and adventure!

Kurtis - Angie

Angie & Kurtis beautiful Canmore, AB wedding.

It's been a busy summer, time for some blogging..

The Highlight Reel

The Barefoot's Canmore Wedding

Love Birds: Angie & Kurtis

Wedding Location: Canmore, Alberta, Canada

The Wedding Day

From the moment that Angie had approached us, well over a year before her wedding. We knew it was a fit. She was avid about having us capture the day for her and Kurtis. The last year for Parfait's videographer's and editor's has been full of weddings-fun-thrill-love and more. Angie was there as a bride-to-be watching us blossom.

Finally her wedding was approaching! Parfait's Team was over the moon while driving out to Canmore the night before the wedding day. Justin and I attended the rehearsal at the Canmore Ranch, and met many of the family who would be attending the next day. It was a great time to meet everyone before the big wedding! We attend rehearsals when time permits, this way we have a great idea as to where the couple will be facing and any additional features of the ceremony.

The next morning we woke up bright and early to head over to the stunning Stoneridge Resort. The ladies were just about to start hair and make up. We always arrive right in time for all that fun to start! The sun was shinning and the ladies were enjoying themselves.  Angie’s dress was absolutely breathtaking. We really love unique touches; she was lucky enough to have a custom hanger!  Her sparkly flats were a great idea, because there would be a lot of walking, especially during the photo shoot later. The bridesmaids and Jr. bridesmaid even took a moment to sneak away and decorate the suite Angie and Kurtis would stay in that night! How fun! Justin captured that moment, as seen in the video.

Do you guys really want to hear about Kurtis and his groomsmen relaxing and getting their suits on? You’ll see the highlights in the video! As a woman, I’m just jealous guys can get out of the house on a regular day with such ease. Let alone a wedding when they have everything planned out in advance down to the socks!  Let’s fast forward to the ceremony!

We arrived to the Canmore Nordic Centre before any guests. The ceremony would take place adjacent to the main building; in the green space. All the chairs, decor and audio were set up. Props the Split Circuit Sound for playing music and distracting us from the chance of rain!

The big man must have been watching and made sure the rain stayed away and we could capture the day and keep the couple dry! A little wind never hurt, well….even a wind guard on a mic can only hold up so many big blows.  The ceremony was short and sweet, complete with a lovely kiss and there they were, The Barefoot’s for the very first time!

Nomi Whalen, the acclaimed officiate from Canmore, read a lovely and fitting blessing to the couple. We just had to include it here.

Now you will feel no rain, for each of you will be
the shelter for the other. Now you will feel no
cold, for each of you will be the warmth for the
other. Now you are two persons, but there is only
one life before. Go now to your dwelling place to
enter into the days of your life together. And may
your days be good and long upon the earth.
— Apache Wedding Blessing

From there we spent about 2 hours with the couple, bridal party and Crista Lee (Crista Lee Photography) and Shirleen From Platinum. We checked out all the hot spots in Canmore and captured beautiful shots of Kurtis and Angie, madly in love. You’ll see some in the Highlight Reel!

From here on out, we will let the Highlight Reel speak for itself. Lots of dancing, heart felt speeches, dancing, more dancing, cake, amazing food and guests hanging out on the balcony at the Nordic Centre in Canmore. This wedding was one for the books, complete the cutest little guests and family- the support these guys have will make anyone jealous! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for having Justin and I there, as your videographers and spies on the wall capturing it all. We wish you a lifetime of happiness and we hope the video is everything you dreamt of and more!! Enjoy!
